Feel the Thunder

Nothing captures the lively, heart-pounding spirit of a Saskatchewan summer quite like the rumble of chuckwagon wheels. Dakota Dunes is proud to host Dakota Thunder, part of the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) races this August 7-9th.

This weekend event brings families, friends, and racing enthusiasts together under the vast open sky as top drivers and teams take to the track. 

Although official professional CPCA tour stops only began at Whitecap Dakota First Nation in 2025, horse-and-wagon racing has been deeply rooted in the community for over a century. Whitecap community members have participated in regional pony and bareback races since the early 1900s, which evolved into decades of local chariot and chuckwagon competitions at community sports days. 

When the formal partnership with CPCA began in 2025, it simply elevated a long-standing, proud tradition for the Dakota people. 

Chuckwagon race weekends showcase thrilling competition alongside a friendly, family-focused environment.

World-Class Golf & Championship Spirit

August at Dakota Dunes Golf Links is a golfer’s paradise with its rolling dunes, well-kept fairways, and unhindered views of prairie skies and natural scenery.

As lovers of the game, we are excited to host the Western Championship of the  Notah Begay III (NB3) Canadian Junior Golf National Championship on August 18th and 19th. 

Created by four-time PGA Tour winner Notah Begay III, this national championship circuit offers an elite platform for top junior golfers. It is dedicated to empowering Indigenous and Native American youth athletes. 

Whether you’re watching emerging young stars compete or enjoying a casual round with friends, playing here provides a perfect mix of concentration, fresh air, and scenic beauty.

Our modern eBike rentals allow guests of any fitness level to ride through the rolling landscape of the river basin and explore scenic trails in a simpler, more enjoyable way.
